Information

ABOM 2022 Arena

  • At ABOM 2022 arena you’ll find all you need: Finish corridor, Event office, IT & Speaker, Big screen, Restaurant, WC, Babysitting, First aids…
  • If you are thinking about using babysitting service during the vent, please check the corresponding option during your entries submission process (in OriOasis platform).

Hard floor – UPDATED

  • There will be a hard floor in Aguiar da Beira’s Sports Hall.
  • It is expressly forbidden to use the same shoes used during the competition inside the building! Please help preserve the playing floor.
  • It is forbidden to cook inside the playing area.

Model Event

  • There will be one model event available.
  • Each model event map costs 5,00€.
  • Each model event map will consist on an all-controls map with 1:10000 and 1:15000 scales available on the same sheet. The contour interval is 5 meters. The mapping style and terrain are very relevant for ABOM 2022 races.
  • Model event maps should be collected between 9h00 and 17h00 in Aguiar da Beira Municipal Library.
  • Model event maps should be picked up between 9h00 to 12h00 and after 14h00 upto 17h30 in Aguiar da Beira Tourism Office.
  • If you are interested to train in Aguiar da Beira region, contact our official training partner O-Portugal. You can buy training maps in advance (prior to event) or on the Event Office (subject to availability).

ABOM 2022 bib number

  • All athletes must use a bib number:
    • Affiliated runners in the Portuguese Orienteering Federation (POF) must wear their own bib number;
    • Non affiliated runners must wear a bib number given by Organizers;
    • All Elite runners (W21Elite and M21Elite) must wear the ABOM 2022 official bib number given by Organizers.
  • Bib numbers will be available in the Event Office.
  • Only athletes with the official ABOM 2022 bib number OR POF bib number correctly placed on the equipment are allowed to start the race.

GPS tracking – Elite classes

  • Organizers will have GPS tracking for the Elite classes – powered by Loggator.
  •  The list of runners using GPS units will be published closer to the event.

Punching system

  • SPORTident system will be used.
  • Renting a SI card has the cost of 2€ per stage. Rented SI card must be handed back to Organizers after its last day of use.
  • Not returning (or loosing) a rented SI card will be charged with 50€.

Change SPORTident card number

  • Any SI card change must be done before the start in the Event Office. It will not be allowed any start with information changes not previously validated by the Event Office.

Start times

  • It won’t be allowed any change of start times in event days.
  • In case of any constraint related with start times (example: need of an early start time in the last day) please write it down during the entry process (in OriOasis platform).
  • Open and Beginners (W/M 10/12) classes won’t have fixed start times, they will have a time interval where they can start with “START” box.

Race time limits

  • The racing time limit for the Long course is 3 hours and for the Middle course is 2 hours.

Fair Play

  • At the end of each course athletes can keep their map, therefore Fair Play is requested to all participants.

Results

  • The final result of Aguiar da Beira “O” Meeting 2022 will be defined by the sum of points of both stages.
  • The points will be calculated this way: Points = (fastest time/own time)*1000

Prizes

  • Prizes will be given to the first 3 (5 in W21Elite & W21Elite) in competition classes.
  • All young participants in Begginers classes (W/M 10/12) will be called to the stage to collect a small participation gift.
  • There won’t be any price giving to Open classes.
  • The Middle distance (Sunday May 29th) will be a World Ranking Event. Therefor, Organizers will call the best 6 Women and Men Elite to the stage to receive their prices.

Health insurance

  • Athletes affiliated in Portuguese Orienteering Federation (POF) are covered by POF insurance.
  • National and Portuguese resident non-affiliated athletes are covered by POF insurance.
  • Foreign and/or non-resident athletes are not covered by any insurance. They should provide for their own security and insurance.

Traffic Indications

  • There will be traffic indications given by Organizers.
  • Please follow and respect the indications, both for traffic and parking.
  • Also be aware that not complying with Organizers’ traffic instructions might guide you to invade JWOC embargoed areas!

Rules

  • Aguiar da Beira “O” Meeting 2022 will be regulated by Portuguese Orienteering Federation competition rules. In presence of any missing case, we will apply the IOF rules.

Climate

  • In average May brings to Aguiar da Beira an average of 24 mm of rain. The minimum average temperature is around +8ºC and the maximum average is around +21ºC.
  • The organizer will have refreshment controls on Long distance race.
  • During ABOM 2022 sun will rise around 6h05 and set around 20h55.
